Tryouts and Team Placements

Academy's cheer season runs June-May annually.

Tryouts are held in May and athletes are placed on their teams for beginning of June.  If you miss the tryouts, contact us to schedule a private assessment.

Athletes are placed on teams based on a combination of skill mastery, age, and maturity.

Competitions run Dec-April/May where teams will be judged and scored against other teams in their division and placements are announced and celebrated in the venue.

Commitment is key with all-star cheerleading because each athlete is essential to the success of the routine.  Attendance is mandatory!

All Star Cheer is a discipline of cheer that involves athletes performing a 2 1/2 minute routine composed of tumbling, stunting, pyramids, dance, and cheer segments.

All Star Cheer differs from traditional school cheerleading in that its primary purpose is competition, while school cheer involves crowd leading and other school roles as well as the option for competition. All Star cheer teams are most often organized and based out of a club and does not involve the use of pom-poms nor chants.

Teams are formed based on tiers for every ability level, from beginner to elite. All Star rules are leveled based on progressions of skills commonly performed in cheerleading and that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the competitor.  Teams range from Tiny Novice Level 1 up to adults at Level 7.

RECREATIONAL CHEER

Radiohead 2022

Recreational Cheer is an introduction to cheer where athletes will learn the essential in cheer.

This program is perfect for those who aren't interested in the competitive aspect of cheer, and want to get a taste of cheer without the full commitment of all-star.

This year, due to the pandemic, teams in recreational cheer will practice a routine for our in-house showcase November and May.

Please e-mail info@academyofcheer.ca if you are interested in cheer.  We will find the right fit for your family.
